Employment and working conditions of selected types of platform work | Eurofound

Submitted by rruggia on

Platform work is a form of employment that uses an online platform to match the supply of and demand for paid labour. In Europe, platform work is still small in scale but is rapidly developing. The types of work offered through platforms are ever-increasing, as are the challenges for existing regulatory frameworks.

New forms of employment | Eurofound

Submitted by rruggia on

Across Europe, due to societal, economic and technological developments, new forms of employment are emerging that are different from traditional standard or non-standard employment in a number of ways. Some transform the relationship between employer and employee, some change work organisation and work patterns, and some do both. To date, very little is known about what characterises these new employment forms and what implications they have for working conditions and the labour market.

Social protection of mainstream and marginal employment in the UK

Submitted by massetti on

Hans-Böckler-Stiftung (2018) In many European countries, marginal part-time, (solo-)self-employment and secondary jobs have been increasing since the last decades. The question about the provision of social protection and labour legislation for these types of employment is the starting point for a project entitled "Hybrid working arrangements in Europe", directed by the WSI. Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Denmark and Austria comprise the group of countries selected in order to investigate "hybrid work" in the context of different welfare state regimes.

Submitted by massetti on

europa.eu (21.06.2018) The revision of the regulations on coordination of social security systems aims at modernising the rules by bringing them in line with the development of national social security systems, as well as making them clearer, fairer and simpler to enforce. This will make it easier for people to move freely within the EU.
