Pakistan: Vision Zero Govt to implement culture of accident-free working environment for employees

 Daily Times (06.12.2018) The Labour & Human Resource Department organised a conference on Vision Zero on Wednesday with support of German development agency GIZ. Labour & HR Department Additional Secretary Dr Sohail Shahzad welcomed the participants for the event and highlighted the framework of occupational safety and health in the light of priority area of the government. He introduced the relationship of this event with concept of improved governance.

In den vergangenen 25 Jahren (1991 bis 2016) ist die Zahl der Erwerbstätigen in Deutschland um vier Millionen auf 43 Millionen Menschen gestiegen. Die Zahl der Arbeitsstunden aber blieb unverändert.

Arrêts de travail et « ras-le-bol » managérial

Depuis quelques années, le nombre d’arrêts de travail est en augmentation constante en France. Pourquoi cette tendance que l’on ne retrouve pas forcément chez nos voisins ? Dans la dernière étude de l’Institut Sapiens sur le sujet, Laurent Cappelletti, professeur au CNAM, avance une explication intéressante : il s’agirait là de l’expression d’un « ras-le-bol » managérial, puisque 99% des absences évitables seraient liées avant tout à des dysfonctionnements dans le management des personnes.

Ensuring occupational health and safety in Oman

Times Of Oman (09.09.2018) In 2008, the Ministry of Manpower issued Ministerial Decision no. 286/2008 introducing the Regulation of Occupational Safety and Health for Establishments governed by the Labour Law. The Regulation provided for a comprehensive regulatory framework with the aim of improving health and safety standards at the workplace and protecting workers from various occupational hazards.

Overall, the picture is also brightening, according to the Manpower Ministry's preliminary figures on workplace safety for the first half of this year, which were released on Monday (Aug 20).

Workers in summer heat need far better protections, groups say

Canadian Occupational Safety (06.08.2018) Outdoor workers must be better protected from extreme heat with nationwide regulations to fill a dangerous lack of safety measures, environmental and labour groups in the United States said. Mandatory rest breaks and access to shade should be required and enforced under a national effort, according to a call by more than 130 groups, former heads of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and universities.
