Unicef endorses 5-month maternity leave in poor countries

observer.ug (22.07.2019) The United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) is advocating for a one-month increase in maternity leave for mothers in low and-middle-income countries, to enable parents to give their children the best start in life.   The UN agency is equally calling for a transformative shift in how businesses and governments invest in policies and practices that support healthy brain development and strengthen the bond between parents and their children.

Les particularités et attributs du modèle de gouvernance adopté par la Mutuelle générale du personnel des administrations publiques (MGPAP) ont été mis en exergue, mardi à Cotonou, par son président Abdelmoula Abdelmoumni.
A l'ouverture d'un atelier de l’Académie de l’Association internationale de la sécurité sociale (AISS) sur la bonne gouvernance, il a souligné que la gestion de la MGPAP est opérée selon une approche foncièrement participative qui pose la représentativité des adhérents comme "clé de voûte" du système de fonctionnement de cette institution.

Cambodia: Ministry requests ADB aid for the most needy

Phnom Penh Post (24.07.2019) Cambodia on Tuesday requested the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to consider providing aid – especially to the elderly, people with disabilities and orphaned children. In the meantime, the bank is studying the country’s social welfare system before announcing a raft of technical assistance as part of the execution of its Social Protection Development Fund project.

Madrid court rules Deliveroo couriers are employees and not freelancers

Tunisia, Palestine sign deal to advance social protection partnership

Xinhua (23.07.2019) A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked in Tunis between the Tunisian government and the Palestinian Authority to advance partnership in social protection, official TAP news agency reported Tuesday. The signing ceremony was attended by Tunisian Social Affairs Minister Mohamed Trabelsi and Palestinian Minister of Social Affairs Ahmed Majdalani.
