Kenya: New maternity scheme for women in informal sector
pd.co.ke (24.11.2021) It will be a major score for expectant and lactating mothers working in the informal sector if the government adopts a newlyproposed maternity scheme. The Maternal Income Protection Benefits (MIPB) joins Linda Mama that was initiated by the National Hospital Insurance Fund, which has seen more than one million expectant mothers register for the scheme since inception in 2017. According to NHIF, which has come up with the latest scheme, MIPB is aimed at cushioning mothers in the informal sector from anxieties associated with poverty.
Austria: Extended paid leave for pregnant women who cannot work remotely
Government of Austria (20.01.2021) Extended paid leave for pregnant women who cannot work remotely, and whose work requires close contact with other people, such as teachers, haridressers, beauticians, physiotherapists and masseuses. The measure is in place until June 2021. The regulation also ensures that employers do not experience any financial losses, as the government will reimburse 100% of the wages.
Japan: Subsidy for employers who allow female pregnant employees to take paid-leave
Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (28.10.2020) Employers, who introduced a paid-leave programme for female pregnant employees who are recommended by a doctor to take leaves due to stress caused by Covid-19, can apply a subsidy. Eligible employers are who informed employees of the programme and allowed a employee more than five days paid-leave inclusive between 7 May 2020 and 31 January 2021.

Myanmar: Quarantined workers will receive paid sick leave and the maternity cash benefit
dfdl.com (06.04.2020) During the period of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Social Security Board (SSB) and the Ministry of Laboyr, Immigration and Population (MOLIP) have issued notifications in relation to social security benefits for the insured workers who are quarantined or are sick (including COVID-19 cases). The benefits that can be availed of by the insured workers under the Social Security Law, Rules and Notifications issued by the SSB and MOLIP are as the following: sickness cash benefit, and the maternity cash benefit.
