Quebec - Canada - Final Report of the Expert Committee on Guaranteed Minimum Income

Québec Portal (13.11.2017) The Expert Committee on Guaranteed Minimum Income released its final report, in which it presents 23 recommendations consistent with a global vision of what would be a transformed and enhanced income system. This global vision is based on both a conceptual analysis of the very idea of guaranteed minimum income and an overall diagnosis of Québec's current income support system.

Digitalisation, Deindustrialisation and the Future of Work

In this paper, we examine i) the impact of technological change on labour market outcomes since the computer revolution of the 1980s, and ii) recent developments in digital technology – including machine learning and robotics – and their potential impacts on the future of work.

Taking the case of Germany the paper argues that smart automation might not lead to overall job losses but considerable shifts in the structure of employment with regard to industries, occupations, skills and tasks.

On 3 to 5 May 2017, an international workshop re-inventing public service delivery took place in Singapore and Johor Bahru, Malaysia focusing on delivering services through one-stop shops (OSS). The workshop focused on citizen centric OSS, presenting examples from a wide range of contexts, including Albania, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Moldova, and Vietnam, to illustrate the diverse experiences and models. The objective of this workshop was to strengthen government capacity for the design and implementation of OSS for public services.

The International Migration Outlook 2017, the 41st edition of this annual OECD publication, analyses recent developments in migration movements and policies in OECD countries and selected non-member countries. Where relevant, it examines the impact of the recent increase in humanitarian migration. It looks at the evolution of the labour market outcomes of immigrants in OECD countries, with a focus on the medium-term dynamic of employment outcomes and on the implications of structural changes in the labour market.
