Diario Digital Nuestro País (20.02.2018) Representantes de los sectores sociales en la Mesa de Diálogo que aborda el tema de la informalidad en el mercado de trabajo, firmaron este 20 de febrero el acuerdo de implementación de la Estrategia Integral de Transición a la Economía Formal en Costa Rica, que tiene como objetivo facilitar la transición de las personas trabajadoras y las unidades económicas de la economía informal a la economía formal.

China: Shanghai to launch long-term care insurance in 2018

xinhuanet (26.12.2017)  Shanghai will launch a long-term care insurance program in 2018, expected to benefit three million elderly people, local authorities said Tuesday. Shanghai, one of the 15 pilot cities in China to implement long-term care insurance, carried out the program on a pilot basis in three districts of Xuhui, Putuo and Jinshan in 2017. About 25,000 elderly people applied for care services and 14,000 of them became beneficiaries. From 2018, urban and rural residents who are aged 60 and older, and are recipients of health care insurance, can participate in the program.

Kenya: Over 500,000 to receive bi-monthly cash disbursements

KBC TV Kenya's Watching (11.02.2018) Over 500,000 people will now receive their bi-monthly cash disbursements of Ksh 4000 shillings in March this year. Among the beneficiaries will include old people aged 70 and above, the severely disabled and orphans.

The Nation Nigeria (05.01.2018) The International Labour Organisation (ILO) in its  World Social Protection Report 2017-2019 has said  the poorest countries can afford to extend social protection to all citizens. According to the ILO report, the universal coverage in old-age pensions has been achieved by more than 20 countries, including Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Cabo Verde, China, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mongolia, Namibia, South Africa, Timor Leste, Trinidad and Tobago and Zanzibar (Tanzania).
