Worldwide, evidence shows that acute common health problems can progress to a state of chronic disability, job loss and dependence on costly long-term illness benefits. In Ireland, this has contributed to a significant increase since 2000 in the number of illness benefit recipients.

Temporary Incapacity Allowance Programme (e-Payment) is a software which the Turkish Social Security Institution put into operation in July 2012 especially for insured persons who have a service contract with one or more employers. In August 2015, it was upgraded to also include the self-employed.

In 2012, the Swedish government allotted resources for early intervention for a restricted amount of new job-seekers. The requirement was that the Public Employment Service (PES) used a profiling instrument which could objectively select individuals with a high risk of long-term unemployment. The integration of student certificates to the Health Benefits Rights Programme (SPAS) involves the electronic flow of data between the Turkish Social Security Institution (SSI) and both the Higher Education Institution (YÖK) and the National Education Ministry (MEB) on up-to-date student certificates.

The groundwork to develop the software started at the beginning of 2013, and finished at the end of 2013, but the entire project was completed in February 2014 and the flow of data on student certificates began electronically.

The Orange Envelope is very well known. It shows the importance of working longer and it is a great platform to make pension savers, either via digital channels or through the Pension Agency's customer service, to get help to understand the full pension and to explain which behaviours lead to a higher or lower pension.
