 WIRED (11.09.2019) A bill passed by California lawmakers Wednesday could put guardrails on the gig economy and its reliance on “independent contractors.” The legislation, Assembly Bill 5, may reshape the way some of the state’s marquee companies—including Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash—as well as many janitorial services, truckers, and musicians do business.

Spain à l’avant-garde on social protection for platform work?

Three recent judgments confirmed that Deliveroo ‘riders’ have in fact an employment relationship with the platform and should be considered as workers, not self-employed.

eluniversal (12.08.2019) México, Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador y Perú están entre los países en donde la calidad del empleo se deteriora, advirtió la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (Cepal). De acuerdo con el Estudio Económico de América Latina y el Caribe 2019, en esas naciones se ha incrementado el número de trabajos por cuenta propia, modalidad en la que hay menos prestaciones de protección social, así como remuneraciones y condiciones laborales menos favorables.
