Jamaica: Equity, social protection and growth

jamaicaobserver (11.93.2019) For FY 2019/20, $20 billion has been allocated across the Government's portfolio of major social protection programmes — a 25 per cent increase from the previous financial year. PATH Conditional Cash Grants will be increased by 16 per cent, while allocations to PATH Transportation, Examination Fees, and School Feeding will increase by 90 per cent, 50 per cent and seven per cent respectively.

Right fiscal reforms, policies can help meet social protection agenda in Asia and Pacific: ADB

FT Online (14.02.2019)  Countries in Asia and the Pacific have a good chance of achieving the social protection agenda under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) if the right fiscal reforms and policies are in place, says a new study by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The report, Asia’s Fiscal Challenge: Financing the Social Protection Agenda of the SDGs, looks at the fiscal situation in 16 countries and the challenges in building and expanding their social welfare program.

'Philippines must spend more for social protection'

BusinessMirror (14.02.2019) The Philippines needs to spend an average of 3.48 to 5.58 percent of its GDP to fill its social protection gaps up to 2030, according to estimates by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In a report, titled “Asia’s Fiscal Challenge: Financing the Social Protection Agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs],” the ADB said addressing the fiscal challenges in providing social protection is key to achieving Agenda 2030.

Wer davon profitiert, war auch am Montag nicht zu konkretisieren. Aus dem Finanzministerium war nur zu erfahren, dass es auch weiterhin die Rückerstattung solcher Beiträge, also die Negativsteuer von bis zu 400 Euro im Jahr bei Arbeitnehmern, bis zu 500 Euro bei Pendlern oder 110 Euro bei Pensionisten geben solle. Zusätzlich? "Genau", sagt ein Sprecher.

Bermuda: Social insurance contribution rise delayed

The Royal Gazette:Bermuda Business (17.01.2019) Seniors are seeing a 1.4 per cent increase in their contributory pension benefits this month, backdated to August of last year. The increased payout, which is in line with inflation, would normally trigger a simultaneous increase in the mandatory contributions made by those of working age.
