Kazakhstan: Provision of employment and social benefits to the population: what measures the state takes during the state of emergency

primeminister.kz (07.04.2020) For the period of the state of emergency, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K. Tokaev, instructed to start making monthly payments to persons who lost income due to the state of emergency, in the amount of 1 wage (42,500 tenge). In total, at least 1.5 million of citizens can count on this assistance. The State Commission has expanded the circle of recipients of social benefits, including self-employed, who have lost their jobs, as well as some groups of socially vulnerable segments of the population.

Kazakh national social insurance fund accumulates $3.7 billion, envisions changes

 The Astana Times (18.03.2019) As of January, the National Social Insurance Fund has accumulated 1.4 trillion tenge (US$3.7 billion) and is reaching 6.126 million citizens, or 70.3 percent of the country’s working population, said Vice Minister of Labour and Social Protection Svetlana Zhakupova at the recent discussion by the Mazhilis (lower house of Parliament) of the mandatory social insurance bill.

(February 2018) his research investigates the barriers which low-income and vulnerable families with children face in accessing poverty-targeted social assistance (Targeted Social Assistance, TSA and the State Child Allowance, SCA2) and special social services. It focuses on children living in households, rather than those residing in institutions. Moreover, with respect to special social services, the study primarily covers children with disabilities and those with limited capacities.
