Turkey: Coronavirus: Government makes treatment and medicine totally free of charge

middleeasteye.net (14.04.2020) Coronavirus treatment and medicine for patients in public hospitals in Turkey has been made free of charge following a presidential decree on Tuesday. The decree says that all patients, even if they failed to pay state insurance, will be granted protective gear and testing, as well as free medicine in state hospitals and medical centres. The Social Security Directorate (SGK) earlier announced free coverage for treatment of the disease for citizens with social security.

Turkey: Social Security Payment Extensions Due to COVID-19

orbitax.com (20.03.2020) Turkey's Social Security Institution has issued a release announcing that six-month extensions are being provided for social security contribution payments due to COVID-19. The extensions are provided based on the deadline extensions for force majeure announced by the tax administration in March (previous coverage). Turkey/Indonesia: BPJS collaborates with Turkish social security agency

antaranews (22.07.2019) The Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) is working with the Turkish government's social security agency Sosyal Guvenlik Kurumu (SGK) to study the health insurance system from various aspects. BPJS Kesehatan President Director Fachmi Idris inked a memorandum of understanding with SGK President Director Mehmet Selim Bagli to mark the start of cooperation between the two parties at the Jakarta BPJS Kesehatan office on Monday.

Social protection expenses in Turkey reach $105 bln in 2017

hurriyetdailynews. (26.12.2018) The social protection expenditures reached to 382.6 billion Turkish liras ($104.8 billion) in 2017, Turkey’s statistical authority announced on Dec. 26. The social protection expenditures rose by 13.7 percent year-on-year in 2017, according to Turkish Statistical Institute’s (TÜİK) figures. It noted 98.1 percent of all of the social protection expenditures were consisted of social protection benefits - 375.5 billion Turkish liras ($102.9 billion).

Turkey among high achievers in universal healthcare
