In times of crisis, we are extending parental allowance to parents who lost their entitlement to it in March 2020 and later, have no job to return to, and have no other income. We will pay him until the end of the emergency.

When am I entitled to an extension of the parental allowance?
Parents whose child has reached the age of three, resp. six years in the case of a child with a long-term unfavorable health condition in March 2020 and later and who do not have income from dependent activity, income from business and other self-employed activity, or are not recipients of social insurance benefits, old-age pension savings pension, supplementary pension savings pension or social security benefits.

The receipt of parental allowance is also extended to persons who take care of a child entrusted to care replacing the care of the parents, or if three years have elapsed since the first decision on entrusting the child to the care of the entitled person. Likewise, this period must expire between March 2020 and beyond.

The right to provide the so-called extended parental allowance therefore does not arise for parents whose children have reached the age of 3, resp. 6 years of age with a long-term unfavorable health condition in February 2020, resp. more likely.

To what extent and until when is the extended parental allowance paid?
The parental allowance will be paid in the same amount as it was provided, until the end of the crisis situation.

How do I apply for an extension of the parental allowance?
Parents do not have to submit new applications, employment, social affairs offices and families will ask them to provide proof of their income, including entitlement to nursing homes.
