newsweek (31.10.2017) While American politicians quarrel over the Affordable Care Act, the United States—one of the few industrialized countries without universal health care—still spends twice as much per person per year on health expenses as the U.K. and Canada. For all the debates over Obamacare, however, America boasts 38 MRI machines per one million people: Nigeria, a country of 180 million people, has only four. Across Africa, the ratio of doctors to patients is painfully low.

On savait les moins qualifiés déjà durement touchés par le chômage de masse en raison de la robotisation et des machines « intelligentes », plus fiables et moins coûteuses que les ­humains. En faisant témoigner des manutentionnaires, les auteurs mettent des mots sur les maux du travail d’aujourd’hui.

Millones han utilizado ya este tipo de estructuras digitales para facilitar su vida cotidiana: trasladarse, comprar comida o libros, procurar una pareja y hasta tener a alguien para acompañarle a hacer las compras. Sin embargo, en América Latina y el Caribe (ALC) el impacto aun es desigual, lo que genera dudas sobre su progreso y regulación apropiadas.

De hecho, algunas estimaciones aventuran que cerca de la mitad de los empleos que hoy existen serán ocupados por máquinas y que esta sustitución podría ser aún más acentuada en América Latina.
