Germany: Simplified access to basic security will be extended

BMAS (09.09.2020) The federal government has approved the Social protection package I Simplified access to basic social security benefits. Due to the ongoing economic effects of the pandemic, the Federal Cabinet has now extended this relief until December 31, 2020. They include the temporary restriction of the asset assessment, the temporary recognition of the actual costs for accommodation and heating as well as simplifications in the approval of provisional benefits.

Czech: Government extends Antivirus B programme for aiding employers through to the end of the year

Government of the Czech Republic (26.10.2020) The government approved an extension of the Antivirus B aid programme through to the end of the year, i.e. until 31 December 2020. Antivirus B can be drawn on by companies that have had to put their employees on "obstacle at work" leave. The contribution will continue to be provided to employers in the amount of 60% of paid wage compensations, a maximum of CZK 29,000 monthly per employee. Mode B thus remains exactly the same as before.

Belgium: COVID-19 pandemic and applicable legislation - update

Socialsecurity.be (12.10.2020) The increased use of teleworking due to the Coronavirus will not be taken into account in determining the applicable social security legislation. This period will be neutralised with effect from 13 March 2020. The envisaged expiry date of this measure is 31 December 2020, but this date may be revised according to the Corona measures.

Japan: Extension of the support fund and allowance for the leave without pay

Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (25.09.2020) Covered month for the support fund and allowance were extended from September 2020 to December 2020. Similarly, the deadlines for application for each month were simplified and extended to 31th December 2020 for months before September; to  31th March 2021 for October, November and December.

Belgium: Corona temporary unemployment after September 1, 2020

capac (22.09.2020) Since September 1, 2020, the rules for temporary corona unemployment have changed.  Only sectors and companies recognized as particularly affected can apply for temporary corona unemployment until December 31, 2020. You can therefore only submit a request for temporary unemployment for corona force majeure if you are working for the employer's account: which falls within a sector particularly affected by the coronavirus crisis  whose company is particularly affected by the coronavirus crisis.

Argentina: Reduction and postponement of social security contribution payment

OFFICIAL BULLETIN REPUBLICA ARGENTINA - General Resolution 4788/2020 (04.08.2020) The postponement or reduction of up to 95% of the payment of employer contributions to the Argentine Integrated Pension System. Certain employers will enjoy the benefit of postponement of the expiration date for the payment of employer contributions to the Argentine Integrated Social Security System for the period accrued in March, April, May, June and July 2020.

a) Accrued in March 2020: from June 9 to July 31, 2020, inclusive.

Luxembourg: Extension of the agreement on social security affiliation for cross-border workers concerning teleworking until 31 December 2020

Gouvernement.lu (25.08.2020) After the agreement in July 2020 with Belgium, Germany and France to maintain the exceptional provision not to take into account the teleworking days linked to the COVID-19 crisis for the determination of the applicable social security legislation frontier workers, Luxembourg and its three neighboring countries have agreed to extend this exemption until December 31, 2020.

EU: Telecommuting because of the corona virus - which country’s social security applies?

Finnish Centre for Pensions (02.04.2020) The European Commission has published instructions regarding the mobility of workers in EU during the exceptional circumstances caused by the corona epidemic. The Commission states that the regulations on the coordination of social security systems continue to be valid. The temporary exceptional circumstances do not change the social security status of mobile workers. The instructions by the Commission are indicative and they do not, in individual cases, bind the authorities in the Member States.
