US: Secondhand Smoke Remains an Occupational Health Issue

EHS Daily Advisor (12.08.2019) Nearly one-fifth of nonsmokers were exposed to secondhand smoke at work, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a recently published study. The CDC reported that 19.9% of nonsmokers had some exposure on the job, and 10.1% had frequent exposures.

The Star (10.07.2019) A culture of prevention is not achievable if Malaysians accept that accidents are a normal occurrence in their daily lives, according to the Social Security Organisation (Socso) Malay   “If you want to achieve the prevention culture with good safety and health management, then it must first be ingrained in ourselves and our workers that we do not accept any accidents, all accidents must be avoided, and they are all preventable,” said Socso chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed.

WHO recognizes workplace 'burnout' as an occupational phenomenon

CNBC (28.05.2019) For the first time, the WHO has officially classified workplace burnout as an occupational phenomenon in its latest revision of the International Classification of Diseases. The agency previously defined burnout as a “state of vital exhaustion,” but this is the first time it’s being directly linked in its classification of diseases as a work hazard.
