Highly skilled workers in the research, development and innovation (RDI) sector receive wage subsidies to protect their jobs. Our goal is the long-term employment of tens of thousands of workers in the sector, the maintenance of wages and the avoidance of redundancies.

An important element of the government's economic action plan for the coronavirus epidemic is the retention of highly qualified professionals in the RDI sector, as this is essential for relaunching the economy: the support available from 15 April businesses. The support covers all non-budgetary employers where research and development is carried out. The program thus affects all sectors, as there are (also) research companies in every sector of the economy, so we help the entire national economy to access the support. The government undertakes a wage subsidy of 40% for employees in the RDI sector for a period of three months, at the maximum amount of which is the average gross earnings measured in the sector,

The amount of the subsidy may not exceed HUF 318,920 per person per month, taking into account the employer's contributions. The amount so awarded is paid to the employer, who must guarantee, in return for the grant, that the company will maintain its headcount before the application is submitted and that the employee will be re-employed for at least 3 months. During the period of the allowance or re-employment, the employer may not reduce the employee's wages according to the date of the declaration of the state of emergency. The source of the program is provided by the newly established Economic Protection Fund;
