The overall goal for Sveriges a-kassor (the Swedish Unemployment Funds) is to provide services that help administer the unemployment insurance in a cost efficient way, avoiding unnecessary manual handling, securing equal treatment in its member service and minimizing erroneous payments of benefit claims.

The Swedish Federation of the Unemployment Insurance Funds (Sveriges a-kassor) provides services that help the 27 unemployment funds to administer the unemployment insurance scheme in Sweden. The goals are: facilitating the administration, to be cost efficient, avoid unnecessary manual handling, secure equal treatment in its member service and minimize erroneous payments of benefit claim. To address these goals, Sveriges a-kassor initiated a digital program to help transform the unemployment funds way of servicing its members as well as maintaining its cost efficiency.

National Health Alarm Services: Predict and prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases through combination of various big data

The National Health Alarm Services of Korea have offered various health alarms to the public 2 3 before the epidemic spreads out in earnest. They combine different data from diverse sources such as national health information from National Health Insurance Service (NHIS), SNS(twitter, blog, etc.) data from Daumsoft Corporation, climate information from Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), air pollution information from Ministry of Environment (MOE) and food poisoning information from Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS).

Establishment & Operation of Workers’ Health Center to Promote Health for Vulnerable Group of Workers

KOSHA has established 42 Workers’ Health Center nationwide to provide professonal and complimentary health services for workers at workplace with less than 50 employees, who show higher prevalence of diseases based on health examinations and work under poorer environment prone to expose to more harmful factors. The services provided by the centers are health examination/consultation, work stress prevention and exercise prescription performed by professional manpower such as occupational and environmental medicine doctors, nurses, and clinical counsellors.

Protection of the Livelihood of Workers with Unpaid Wages through Wage Claim Guarantee

The Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service(COMWEL) operates the following system as a strong shield for the protection of claim for wages of workers: The wage for the last three months in the month and for the last three years of retirement funds shall be given priority over other securities, taxes, and utility bills to be protected in the highest priority.

Provision of One-stop Services through 4 social Insurance Information System

The National Pension Service (NPS) developed a system that connects social insurance computer network and established the Social Insurance Information Center at the NPS in February 2003 to allow citizens to register once by visiting any office of the four social security organizations or via online to resolve inconveniences of having to make requests or submissions at each of the organizations of the four social insurances (National Pension, National Health Insurance, Employment Insurance, and Workers’ Compensation Insurance).

Provision of Various Services for Retirement Preparation by Connecting with Relevant Institutions

•Developed joint service network and system with 18 types of local government welfare services and 16 specialized agencies by collaborating (singing MOUs and organizing consultative groups) with relevant organizations in respective fields (finance, healthcare, leisure, interpersonal relationships) of retirement preparation including local governments and specialized agencies. •Introduce relevant services provided by organizations and provide information by identifying welfare services that citizens need or want in the process of consultations on preparing for retirement.

Increasing Pension Enrolment of Non-regular Workers

While National Pension enrolment rate for regular workers in Korea was 82 percent*, the rate for non-regular workers was a mere 38 percent, showing their vulnerable retirement planning. There was a call to strengthen social safety net to realize ‘pension per person’ by reducing the risk of non-regular workers falling through the cracks of the social insurance system amid a gradual rise in the number of non-regular workers like daily and part-time workers due to labor market flexibility.
