Establishment & Operation of Workers’ Health Center to Promote Health for Vulnerable Group of Workers

KOSHA has established 42 Workers’ Health Center nationwide to provide professonal and complimentary health services for workers at workplace with less than 50 employees, who show higher prevalence of diseases based on health examinations and work under poorer environment prone to expose to more harmful factors. The services provided by the centers are health examination/consultation, work stress prevention and exercise prescription performed by professional manpower such as occupational and environmental medicine doctors, nurses, and clinical counsellors. From 2015 to 2017, a total of 502,675 workers visited the centers for health examination/consultation. By tracking the health condition of 31,951 workers who participated in the programs more than twice, we figure out that 66.68 per cent (21,306 workers) demonstrate health improvement. The centers play significant roles to promote health and welfare of the vulnerable (female, elderly, migrant workers) by helping them to use the centers without distinction. Workers’ Health Center has contributed to improving workers’ health with the stable financial support from KOSHA. The coverage of the center will steadily be expended with internal stability through outreach service and Trauma counselling, etc.
