National Health Alarm Services: Predict and prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases through combination of various big data

The National Health Alarm Services of Korea have offered various health alarms to the public 2 3 before the epidemic spreads out in earnest. They combine different data from diverse sources such as national health information from National Health Insurance Service (NHIS), SNS(twitter, blog, etc.) data from Daumsoft Corporation, climate information from Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), air pollution information from Ministry of Environment (MOE) and food poisoning information from Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). Five infectious diseases : cold, eye disease, food poisoning, dermatitis and asthma are continuously monitored. Data from each organizations are merged into one to make this system success. Then data are calculated for disease prediction by predefinded formula, and currently accuracy of disease prediction is over than 90 per cent. People can access alarm service through the Internet or TV news easily. This method and system can be adapted to other country if they have appropriate data.
