The Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Muhammedkaly Abylgaziev, held a meeting, which resulted in the adoption of a plan to reduce the negative impact on economic and social stability in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection. 

According to the Head of Government, the current situation obliges the Government to quickly solve the problems that have accumulated over the years, in particular in the field of healthcare and ensuring food security. 

“We understand the inconvenience faced by citizens and the business community in recent days. The state of emergency introduced is a measure to prevent the further spread of coronavirus infection among a large number of citizens. Today, it depends on the health of each of you, on consciousness and prevention, how soon we can cope with the spread of the virus and return to a full, economically active life. The well-being of the whole country depends on the coherence of our actions, ”said Muhammedkaliy Abylgaziev. 

The Prime Minister emphasized that there are no reasons for concern about the availability of certain food products and medical preparations. 

“Borders are open, goods and goods arrive as usual. A decision has already been made to allocate 10 thousand tons of flour from the state material reserve, 5 thousand tons of which will be used to support socially vulnerable segments of the population. Along with this, in the coming days, the Government, together with the business community and volunteers, will launch large-scale work to provide targeted support to citizens in difficult situations, ”said Muhammedkaliy Abylgaziev. 

Note that according to the Plan to reduce the negative impact on economic and social stability, the following decisions were made: 

- It was recommended to large producers, suppliers of food products, owners of large retail chains to ensure an adequate supply of socially significant agricultural goods and food products, stable sales and prices for them;

- put in the state reserve the necessary volume of the food group of essential goods;

- organize and coordinate with the EAEU partners a mechanism for providing a “green corridor” for transit freight traffic for unhindered passage of imports of socially significant goods, medicines, medical products and preparations;

- provide targeted social assistance to low-income families in the form of food packages. 

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government is well aware of the consequences of the state of emergency for socially vulnerable segments of the population.  

“During the state of emergency, we must first of all think about how to cope with the infection as much as possible. Our goal is to achieve the absence of new infections and the spread of infection among citizens. I urge citizens to be sympathetic to the work and instructions of the commandants of cities and regions where a state of emergency has been introduced. The state, in turn, will do everything possible so that no one is left without attention and care. Today, more than ever, we feel the unity of the people, business and the state before a common threat. Many entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens provide all possible assistance in supporting socially vulnerable segments of the population. The government and local governments will ensure clear and organized work to provide such assistance. In just a few days of opening a special account to prevent the spread of coronavirus, more than 50 million soms were received. We will report for every catfish that will be spent on measures to combat the virus, ”said Muhammedkaly Abylgaziev.
