leral.net (14.08.2017) La politique de développement des mutuelles de santé a permis de porter le taux de couverture maladie de 6,8 % en 2013, à près de 20%, en 2016. En matière de bourses de sécurité familiale, aujourd’hui plus de 300 000 familles au Sénégal bénéficient d’une allocation annuelle de 100.000 FCFA et d’une couverture médicale.

Singapore: Impassioned call for more parental leave,

Straits Times (01.08.2017) Mr Louis Ng (Nee Soon GRC) yesterday recommended the extension of paid paternity and maternity leave for new parents of premature or multiple babies, as he spoke about his own experience as a father of twin daughters who were born 10 weeks early.
Besides the difficulty of having to care for more than one infant at the same time, parents of multiple babies, such as twins and triplets, often also have to contend with their newborns being hospitalised, he said. Multiple babies are often born premature, before 37 weeks of gestation.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Self Employment Social Security Bill 2017 which seeks to provide Social Security Organisation (Socso) protection to self employed persons has been passed by the Dewan Rakyat today. Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem said for a start, the new law would be enforced to provide Socso protection to self-employed taxi drivers and e-hailing service providers, including Uber and GrabCar, before being extended to other self-employment sectors.

HelpAge International (30.06.2017) June is an exciting month for us here in Myanmar. All older people over the age of 90 are now eligible to receive 10,000 Burmese kyat (around US$7) per month from a new universal social pension - the first of its kind in the country. For a lower middle income country where social protection has historically been very limited, this is a major achievement.
