This publication presents a study on the availability and provision of long-term care (LTC) in Indonesia. It discusses findings from the analysis and offers recommendations for the development of LTC systems in the country.

OECD (21.10.2021) The COVID-19 crisis has hit the long-term care (LTC) sector particularly hard, with large numbers of people dependent on care and particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 have fallen ill, and a disproportionate rate of LTC workers both exposed to, and infected by, COVID-19. The analysis presented in this report describes the effects of COVID-19 on LTC in OECD countries, mainly showing infection rates and mortality of LTC recipients.

Abstract.

El Sistema Nacional de Cuidados promueve la implementación de políticas públicas destinadas a atender las necesidades de personas mayores de 65 años en situación de dependencia, niños de 0 a 3 años y personas con discapacidad severa.

La construcción de sistemas integrales de cuidados es un factor fundamental para el logro del empoderamiento de las mujeres y la igualdad de género, y un elemento clave para la recuperación socioeconómica al convertirse en un generador directo e indirecto de empleo y un facilitador de que otros sectores de la economía funcionen adecuadamente.

European Commission (14.06.2021) On 14 June 2021, the Council of the EU endorsed the key conclusions of the 2021 reports on long-term care and on pension adequacy, that illustrate the situation of older people in the EU. The two reports analyse the situation of older people in the EU, looking into whether Europeans can maintain decent living standards in retirement, how many older people need support in their daily activities and whether they can access and afford the help they need. 

German Government (20.01.2021) Thanks to the Act for the Digital Modernisation of Care and Nursing on January 20th, 2021, midwives and other healthcare professionals will in future be able to offer telemedicine services, and will be paid for these. In addition, it is to become easier to use e-prescriptions, even internationally. Besides this, a brief patient file is to be created, meaning that patients will be able to share important information with their doctors even if they are in another EU member state.

German Government (20.01.2021) The importance of digitalisation in the health system and the need to make better use of the potentials offered by digitalisation has become particularly evident during the pandemic. In the future, it is to be possible to include digital applications, such as fall prevention apps or memory training apps, in regular nursing care. In the future, it will be possible to link digital applications with the electronic patient file. To this end, on Wednesday the Cabinet approved a bill; the draft Act for the Digital Modernisation of Care and Nursing.
