Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family (16.07.2020) If you are an employee and you have been confirmed temporary incapacity for work due to ordered quarantine or isolation, you contact the attending physician (by phone or e-mail), who will confirm your temporary incapacity for work due to quarantine or isolation on the prescribed form and send him to the Social Insurance Agency. From the first day of temporary incapacity for work, in cases where quarantine or isolation has been ordered (employee, SZČO, voluntarily insured person), the Social Insurance Agency will pay a benefit of 55% of the daily assessment base(approx. 70% of net salary).

Compared to the normal sickness benefit paid during temporary incapacity for work (PN-ka), the sickness benefits to which a claim arises during a crisis situation (from 12 March 2020 until its end) related to the spread of Covid-19 :

  • in the case of ordered quarantine and isolation, it also pays employees from the first day. This means that if you are an employee and you have been confirmed temporary incapacity for work due to ordered quarantine or isolation, you no longer ask your employer for income compensation in the event of temporary incapacity for work (you are not entitled to this in these cases). In this case, you contact the attending physician (by phone or e-mail), who will confirm your temporary incapacity for work due to quarantine or isolation on the prescribed form and send him to the Social Insurance Agency.(The same procedure is applied by SZČO and voluntarily insured persons). Upon request, the attending physician will also mark your telephone number, where the Social Insurance Agency can contact you for the purpose of verifying the application and completing the necessary data. The employee should immediately inform the employer about the occurrence of an obstacle at work. From the first day of temporary incapacity for work, in cases where quarantine or isolation has been ordered (employee, SZČO, voluntarily insured person), the Social Insurance Agency will pay a benefit of 55% of the daily assessment base(approx. 70% of net salary). Prior to the entry into force of the current legislation during the first three days of temporary incapacity for work, the insured in these cases was entitled to a benefit (employee compensation for temporary incapacity for work and SZČO and voluntarily sickness insured person) in the amount of 25% of the daily assessment base.

Warning! Entitlement to pandemic sickness, resp. Entitlement to a pandemic sickness benefit in the amount of 55% of the daily assessment basis arises at the earliest from the effective date of the relevant amendment to the Social Insurance Act, ie from 27 March 2020.
