The program involves 2,570 families (mainly mothers) in situations of extreme poverty.

Somalia: President Unveils Social Safety Net Program to Reduce Poverty and Improve Human Capital

molgov.so (19.04.2020) The Baxnano programe is intended to provide cash transfers to targeted poor and vulnerable households and establish the key building blocks of a national shock-responsive safety net system. The aim is to target 200,000 poor and vulnerable households (approximately 1.3 million individuals) across the Federal Member States of Somalia and provide them with nutrition-linked cash transfer. The families will be able to use the money for their immediate needs, such as food and basic services.

Djibouti: Ministry of Social Affairs Continues to Provide Food Vouchers to the Needy (COVID-19)

Egypt plans single cash transfer system for combating poverty

The Egyptian authorities plan to launch a new social protection system as of August to help the poor make ends meet as part of a new law for cash subsidies. The bill, which is expected to be passed by parliament later this month, will amalgamate all of the country’s cash-subsidy schemes into the Takaful and Karama program.

Poverty in old age haunts millions of Asia's elderly

In an Asian Development Blog, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department Principal Social Development Specialist Sri Wening Handayani said vendors, day laborers, and others are being left out of the national pension system. Handayani said nearly 10 percent of the population of the Asia and Pacific region are above the age of 60.
