- gain a better understanding of how social protection policies and programmes can promote rural women’s empowerment as a strategy for rural poverty reduction
- identify good practices in social protection policies and programmes to ensure that both women and men have access to social protection benefits; and
AllAfrica (25.03.2016) A new report by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has praised the impact of the State-funded Vision 2020 Umurenge Programme (VUP), a social protection initiative that has since helped improve the wellbeing of vulnerable citizens across the country.
AllAfrica (02.12.2015) The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors has approved a $95 million International Development Association (IDA) * credit for the Rwanda Social Protection System (SPS-2). This is the second in a series of Development Policy Operations (DPO) supporting the Government's efforts to improve the efficiency and accountability of Rwanda's social protection system, as well as expand safety net coverage of the poor and the vulnerable.
