South Africa: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Hosts Workshop On Unclaimed Social Protection Benefits

allAfrica.com (27.06.2016) There have been substantial concerns by government, trade unions and employers about the inability of claimants to access social protection funds such as pension and provident funds, compensation funds and unemployment benefits. There may be approximately R30 billion in unclaimed funds for workers and ex-workers in the region.

Le Soleil (16.06.2016) Des acteurs de la santé, de la société civile, des autorités administratives, politiques, des dignitaires religieux, entre autres, se sont engagés devant le ministre de la Santé à porter le plaidoyer pour améliorer la santé de la mère et de l’enfant. Après leur déclaration, ils ont intégré l’Alliance nationale de plaidoyer sur la santé de la mère, de l’enfant et de l’adolescent. Cette alliance a été lancée, avant-hier, à Dakar, par le Pr Awa Marie Coll Seck, ministre de la Santé et de l’Action sociale.

La BAD consent 134,65 millions de dollars au Maroc

Le Matin (23.06.2016) C’est fait. La Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé, le 22 juin à Abidjan, un prêt de 134,65 millions de dollars pour l’appui à la gouvernance des secteurs sociaux au Maroc. Comme nous l’annoncions en exclusivité en février 2015, ce financement est destiné essentiellement à un Programme d’appui à la gouvernance de la protection sociale (PAGPS) visant à améliorer la protection sociale des Marocains.

UNDP (22.06.2016) As an effort to support policy implementation and to bring an up-to-date analysis of creative policies blossoming across the African continent, the UNDP World Centre for Sustainable Development (RIO+ Centre) and the UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa are launching the first RIO+ global report in Gaborone, Botswana. The report focuses on social protection as a key to achieving sustainable development by building on the experiences of Africa and Brazil to capture lessons that inspire citizens and provide policymakers with information on existing programmes.
