tsf.pt (01.04.2020) The unemployed will be allowed to work temporarily in social and health institutions. The measure created by the government and today published in Diário da República aims to support social and solidarity sector entities to face the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In order to tackle the personnel shortage in health care facilities, and for a maximum period of three months, unemployed persons, persons with contracts with reduced hours, and persons in part-time employment are called to support social and health facilities to help in nursing homes, hospitals or organizations that provided health care and social support to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. Subsidized unemployed placed in these entities will be awarded a scholarship of 438.8 euros, which they accumulate with the unemployment benefit. The rest will be awarded a grant of 658.2 euros. Payment is ensured at 90% by the IEFP. It is foreseen to also call students over 18 years of age if necessary.
For a maximum period of three months, the integration of unemployed persons is allowed, regardless of whether they are enrolled in the Instituto do Emprego e Formacao Profissional (IEFP) or not, workers with a suspended contract or reduced hours and also those who have a part-time employment contract - as long as they are not over 60 years, nor belong to groups considered at risk. Student integration is also foreseen, as long as they are over 18 years old. The purpose of the measure to Support the Emergency Reinforcement of Social and Health Facilities is to help organizations such as nursing homes, hospitals or organizations that develop activities to provide health care or social support and have needs to reinforce people in the short term deadline to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
