The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population issued an order (No. 63/2020) dated 20 March extending the deadline for social security payments from 15 days to three months in accordance with the Article 100 of Social Security Law (2012).
The purpose of the deadline extension is to help businesses affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Regarding business conditions and changing social needs amid COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry extended the deadline for social security payments from employers and employees to the government in accordance with the Paragraph No.64 of Law No.18.
According to the ministry’s announcement, social security payments, which were previously paid within 15 days of respective month-end, now can be paid within three months of respective month-end. The government is not only paying loans, and reducing taxes, but also extending the deadlines of social security insurance payments in accordance with related laws to alleviate the difficulties of businesses amid COVID-19 crisis. — KhinYadana (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
