Chancellor’s new support scheme ‘will see one million lose jobs’

Mr Sunak unveiled a package of measures on Thursday to support workers after the furlough scheme ends on October 31. The new scheme requires employers to keep staff at work for at least one third of their normal hours to qualify for a 20 per cent wage subsidy up to a maximum of £697.92 a month. Employers must contribute one third of unworked hours on top of the hours worked.
