COVID-19: the current situation in the Dominican Republic

There are two modalities: FASE 1,which will be for workers with suspended contracts,and FASE 2,intended for companies that continue to operate.

In the case of FASE 1,the Government will transfer to each affected worker 70% of their ordinary salary,up to a limit of 8,500 pesos per month. The payment will not be less than 5,000 pesos. The remaining amount until reaching 100% of the worker's salary should be made by the company,but it is not mandatory.

Same requirements apply for FASE 2. In this case,the transfer to each worker will be 5,000 pesos a month,while the remaining amount must be covered by the employer (mandatory). The company should also comply with the payment of social security and other contributions.

The FASE Program will last for 60 days from April 2,2020.
