Implementation of Pupils in Public Primary Schools Social Health Insurance Programme
The Public Primary Pupils Social Health Insurance Programme (PPPSHIP), a recently introduced programme of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), is aimed at eliminating financial barriers for over 24 million children in public primary schools in our quest to attaining the 40 per cent coverage by 2015.
The NHIS, States, Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) and Health Care Facilities (HCFs) are key stakeholders. The Programme is to be funded and managed by the NHIS and participating States in collaboration with appointed private HMOs.
