Distribution of school meals to the families is approved at the national level, with a budget of R$1.5 billion, and it is expected to cover about 40 million students and 150,000 schools.

LAW No. 13,987, OF APRIL 7, 2020
Amends Law 11,947, of June 16, 2009, to authorize, exceptionally, during the period of suspension of classes due to an emergency or public calamity, the distribution of foodstuffs purchased with resources from the National Food Program School (Pnae) to parents or guardians of students of public schools of basic education.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC Let me know that the National Congress decrees and I sanction the following Law:
Art. 1 Law No. 11,947, of June 16, 2009 , comes into force plus the following art. 21-A:
"Art. 21-A. During the period of suspension of classes in public schools of basic education due to an emergency or public calamity, it is authorized, throughout the national territory, on an exceptional basis, the immediate distribution to parents or guardians of students enrolled in them, with monitoring by CAE, of foodstuffs acquired with financial resources received, under the terms of this Law, to the Pnae account. ”
Art. 2 This Law comes into force on the date of its publication.
