Survey Says 89 Percent Seek Longer Maternity Leave as China Ends One-child Policy

Yibada (18.11.2015) In a survey conducted by China Youth Daily, 88.9 percent of its 2,966 respondents expressed their wish to have a longer maternity leave should they have a second child. Of this number, 40.7 percent hoped the period will be extended to six months, while 26 percent asked for a one-year extension. Another 6.6 percent said that the leave should be prolonged to three years.

The New Republic (25.08.2015) Each week, Sweden’s national Twitter account allows a different Swede to take over tweeting and tell his or her story. Last week it was Louise Samet, a new mom and an employee of Swedish e-commerce giant Klarna. But unlike Amazon, where women only receive eight weeks of paid leave and men receive none, Klarna supplements  68 weeks of paid leave, which is split evenly between mothers and fathers.

France: Allocations familiales - la baisse, c'est aujourd'hui pour 500.000 familles

TF1 (05.08.2015) Elles sont versées le 5 de chaque mois. Les allocations familiales de 505 000 foyers français ont baissé. La mesure, entrée en vigueur depuis le 1er juillet, est réellement appliquée aujourd'hui. Pour les couples gagnant plus de 6000 euros par mois, ces allocations sont divisées par deux. L'Etat veut économiser 865 millions d'euros.
