The Catholic Workers’ Circle of the Uruguay Mutual Fund (Círculo Católico de Obreros del Uruguay Mutualista – CCOUM) is part of the integrated national health system in Uruguay. In this regard, it is a provider of total health coverage as it has been a link of the country’s social security system thanks to its mutual structure.
Currently, it has approximately 92,529 members and 2,239 workers, 679 (31 per cent) of whom are nursing staff.
The lifelong training of nursing staff positively impacts the quality of services, patient safety, the promotion of the health of our workers, the labor culture and motivation.
In this good practice, training programs for nursing staff have been implemented in the areas of emergency services and pediatric and neonatal intensive care medicine service. Health and safety go hand in hand and it is from this premise that we address the issue by making use of Information and Communication Technology as an essential tool for ensuring equal access to training.
