The nationwide extension of the use of the “CHIFA” electronic card for insured persons and its online updating is the most recent step in the modernization and improvement of the general conditions for the provision of service to insured persons and their dependants. Every CHIFA cardholder under the third-party payment system will be able to obtain their medication wherever they are in the country, under agreements reached between the National Social Insurance Fund for Employees (Caisse nationale des assurances sociales des travailleurs salariés – CNAS) and pharmaceutical dispensaries.

Remote updating of the CHIFA card has become an absolute necessity to further improve services for workers using it outside their Wilaya of residence, particularly those in southern parts of the country, which are employment areas with workers known for their mobility due to the specificities of the labour system.

This practice makes it possible for users to update their CHIFA card at any of the Fund’s payment structures or accredited pharmaceutical dispensaries at national level.
