The National Social Insurance Fund of Cameroon (Caisse nationale de prévoyance sociale (CNPS)) users were experiencing lengthy waiting times as their files were reviewed by several departments (reception, benefits and accounting) and each step of the review involved separate processing and validation. The CNPS responded to this by developing and implementing a global unified process referred to as the "Total Office" ("Le Bureau Total").
This involves processing client benefit application forms instantaneously at a one-stop centre and within a maximum of a few hours. When the process is complete, clients receive their expected benefits. All the departments involved in processing files are now housed at the same location ("Total Office").
Implementation of this practice in the offices concerned has reduced processing time for old age, disability and survivors files from 30 days to a maximum of 48 hours. Processing times for family benefits have fallen from seven days to less than one hour.
