The ISSA Guidelines for Social Security Administration were prepared by the ISSA General Secretariat with the ISSA technical commissions.

The ISSA Guidelines on Prevention of Occupational Risks were produced under the auspices of the ISSA Special Commission on Prevention. The Guidelines were prepared by a team at the ISSA General Secretariat, led by Bernd Treichel. Expert support and contributions were provided by Helmut Ehnes and Peter Schrandt of the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for Raw Materials and the Chemical Industry (Berufsgenossenschaft Rohstoffe und chemische Industrie – BGRCI) and Sven Timm of the German Social Accident Insurance (Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung – DGUV).

The Guidelines were updated in 2016 under the auspices of the ISSA Technical Commission on Insurance against Employment Accidents and Occupational Diseases, adding aspects on how to manage occupational diseases from a social security perspective.
