Infonavit (Instituto del Fondo Nacional de la Vivienda para los Trabajadores) is a federal institute for worker's housing that provides workers with mortgage and non-mortgage credit related to housing. Infonavit's has been offering five support programs for those who became unemployed,had a decrease in their wages,as well as for companies affected by the economic crisis as a result of Covid-19. Its main support for unemployment is the Universal Job Loss Fund,with the suspension of mortgage payments for three months. Accredited workers will be able to stop paying the mortgage during this period with a 0% copayment. In other words,Infonavit will cover all the fees. This benefit can be extended up to six months,depending on the official declarations regarding the duration of the contingency period.

This support is the result of the combination of a reserve fund with the existing Payment Protection Fund,that is to say a total of 7,326 million pesos that will be used to cover the monthly payments of the workers corresponding to May,June and July.

P.S: Through the Payment Protection Fund (Fondo de Protección de Pagos ) workers could have access to this benefit while unemployed,but only if they had been contributing to the fund (percentage of monthly payment allocated to this fund).

Adjusted on 01 July 2020: Although support had already begun,most of it ended in June,but after an analysis the deadline for receiving requests for access to protection measures was extended to 31 August.
