The Jammu and Kashmir government approved an additional ex-gratia of Rs.25.00 lakh in case of death of healthcare workers due to COVID-19.

It shall be payable to the dependent members/legal heirs of those Healthcare workers, including community health workers who may lose their lives as a result of being in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and who may be at risk of being impacted by this disease.

This comes in addition to the insurance cover of Rs. 50.00 lakh for Healthcare providers (Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package). Healthcare workers in UT of Jammu and Kashmir get a total amount of Rs.75.00 lakh.
