Canada: Occupatioanal diseases - Three cancers added to list of firefighters' illnesses eligible for coverage in B.C.

CTV Vancouver News (06,03.2017) The British Columbia government is adding three types of cancer to those that could be considered occupational diseases suffered by firefighters. A release from the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training says breast cancer, prostate cancer and multiple myeloma will be added to the Firefighters Occupational Disease Regulation under the Workers Compensation Act.

Belgique: Fedris sera la nouvelle agence pour les risques professionnels

rtbf.be (12.07.2016) La Commission des Affaires sociales a approuvé mardi la fusion du Fonds des accidents du travail et du Fonds des maladies professionnelles. Ces deux institutions de la sécurité sociale deviendront Fedris, l'agence fédérale des risques professionnels, qui reprendra également la mission du Fonds amiante à partir d'avril 2017.

Times of India (12.07.2016) Earlier this month, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Jodhpur hosted a conference on occupational health. Given that there are over 5,300 patients of silicosis in the state, occupational health is a big concern in Rajasthan. Last year, silicosis was declared a notifiable disease, under laws pertaining to epidemics.
