Education benefits at PPF Pensions Fund
On 21st March 2003, the PPF Pensions Fund introduced a new benefit known as education benefits. Education benefit is granted to deceased members' children when a member dies while in service. It covers up to four of the deceased member's children from nursery to secondary education level.
PPF Pensions Fund SACCOS scheme
In 2004, a special loan product was introduced by PPF Pensions Fund to assist members to live a comfortable life while still actively working and prepare for life after retirement. The product was structured such that it is easily accessed, very affordable to members and has low risk to the scheme.
PPF Taarifa mobile app
PPF Pensions Fund (PPF) developed a web based application, PPF Taarifa, for the purpose of serving members with common requirements including viewing their contributions statements, checking the status of their pensions, checking for correctness of their membership particulars, and submitting their queries to the Fund.

Enabling effective supervision through technology
The Social Security Regulatory Authority (SSRA) is actively using ICT to promote good practices in the social security sector in Tanzania.
In early 2014, SSRA launched an Electronic Services Portal (ESP) that allows the trustees of social security schemes to obtain first-hand information on the compliance status of their schemes, and allows regulated entities to submit regulatory returns.
Extension of social health insurance coverage to the retired population
The provision of free health care to the elderly populace by the Government continues to face a myriad of challenges. In recognition of this, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) in 2011 redesigned its service portfolio to bring on board retired members.
Revolutionizing hospital bills payments: Inception of e-claims processing
Up to June, 2014, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) of Tanzania had accredited a total of 6,013 health care facilities throughout the country who lodge claims to the Fund on a monthly basis. Due to the challenges of prolonged claims delays, errors during claims processing and sky-high expenditures on invalid members, the Fund introduced e-claims processing in January 2012.
Utility maximisation from available medical specialists for health service improvement: An innopvative approach to increase quality of health services in hard to reach areas
The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) has accredited a wide range of health facilities many of which are currently ill-staffed. Unfortunately, the few available medical specialists would not want to work in areas other than cities and municipals. For this and other reasons, NHIF in 2012 incepted the Medical Out-reach Program (MO-P).
