The Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) is a defined contribution fund that provides superannuation services to its members. With the Vision Securing Your Future, the FNPF strives to understand its customers, offer quality services and ensure sustainable returns for a meaningful retirement. The membership base of the FNPF is 417, 886 which accounts for 47% of the population of Fiji. Fiji has encountered severe tropical cyclones in recent times and being the only Superannuation Fund and the largest Financial Institution in the country, FNPF is required under its Act to provide assistance for its members. As required in 2016, TC Winston, a category 5 cyclone – the strongest cyclone in the Southern Hemisphere crossed Fiji’s main islands. The FNPF activated the scheme of Natural Disaster Assistance in 2016 under which it assisted 182,571 members. This was a milestone achievement for the FNPF that it was able to process approximately 3 years of application within 2 months .
