For more than 20 years, the Employment Injury Insurance scheme for workers has provided cash benefits/compensation. In 2014, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan was mandated to reform its social security system. In order to fulfill that mandate, we proposed the Return to Work Programme to the Indonesian Government as a part of social security reform that provides a holistic approach.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan initiated the Return to Work Programme through three interventions: Traumatic Centre Hospital, Safety Riding and Coordination of Benefit.
Safety Riding is part of the prevention programme and is conducted in collaboration with the National Police Office. This is conducted in each of the regional offices.
Traumatic Centre Hospital is part of the medical care and treatment infrastructure and is conducted in collaboration with a local hospital. This hospital is called the Traumatic Centre Hospital. It has a special unit that provides priority service for employment injuries, aiming to save a "golden hour" for the patient.
Coordination of Benefit (CoB) is a joint service between BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, BPJS Kesehatan (providing healthcare benefits for all people) and PT Jasa Raharja for commuting accidents.
