It is well known how to manage our regulations, standards, and working guidelines, but:
How do we manage knowledge that is not captured in typical documentary form, but which we systematically need to perform our work?
How do we manage our notebook of “useful facts” which we use for our work?
How do we ensure maximum access to:
- that presentation that went down well and which we reuse for other presentations;
- that way of presenting projects for evaluation;
- that paper on strategic planning that we keep rereading to guide long-term considerations;
- hat piece of knowledge that, by being frequently used with little change becomes reusable / replicable / inspiring …
Let us now reflect on how to manage/share such knowledge; let us call it the “unconventional knowledge assets” of units, divisions, and the entire organization.
Let us now think about saving time and human resources; by reusing such organizational knowledge (which by simply not being accessible and shared has to be systematically reinvented). Let us reflect on the best way of doing things by drawing on the best resources available.
