The institution recognizes the importance of capacity building for workplace health promotion within its client enterprises/organizations, to ensure its sustainability and positive health outcomes.

  • The management should develop a series of capacity-building initiatives for workplace health promotion. These could include:
    • Creating networks of health-promoting organizations as a forum for the exchange of information and good practice, learning and professional development;
    • Organizing seminars, workshops and training courses for key staff within client enterprises/organizations who are involved in developing workplace health promotion initiatives.
  • The management should work with professional bodies representing key disciplines (including human resources, organizational development, occupational health services and occupational safety and health) to develop professional development opportunities which focus on advocating for workplace health promotion.
  • The management should develop mechanisms to support such workplace health promotion advocates to develop and implement initiatives within their own enterprises/organizations (e.g. telephone advice lines, web-based “chat rooms/forums” and mentoring).

  • The board/management should use all possible means to assist client enterprises/organizations to understand the need to build organizational capacity to protect and promote employee well-being.
  • The board/management should facilitate capacity building for workplace health promotion in client enterprises/organizations.
