A.1.5. Dynamism

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Dynamism is the governance element of innovation or positive change, the effect of which is to henceforth improve the efficiency of an organization.

Governance may well be in accordance with the principles of accountability, transparency, participation and predictability. The principle of dynamism improves on the status quo and enables the institution to be more faithful to its mandate and to respond to the evolving needs of its members.

A newly appointed social security administrator may choose to maintain the status quo and, if the previous administrator adhered to the principles of accountability, transparency, participation and predictability, good governance will continue to prevail within the organization. Alternatively, the newly appointed authority may opt to improve on the status quo and, through various means, motivate programme enhancements that build on the status quo. Once an innovation is introduced and adopted, its positive effects can alter the institution’s operating environment.

These two guidelines will assist the board to promote the principle of dynamism in the administration of a social security institution.
