In July 2014, Spain´s National Social Security Institute launched the online service platform TU SEGURIDAD SOCIAL (YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY).

The project is based on a fully innovative concept: a private space available to every citizen with relevant information on their relationship to the social security system, contribution records, and rights acquired or being acquired. Every citizen has access to customized services, including the simulation of future benefits, documents supporting their rights, information on the status of relevant formalities and several other procedures which can be performed easily and quickly online. The platform also allows a direct and personalized communication with citizens.

The functional design of TU SEGURIDAD SOCIAL takes into account the views and needs of citizens, which are obtained through user tests. Based on these views and needs, a usability tool has been designed which provides a real alternative and complements the provision of on-site care, improving information to citizens and facilitating the informed exercise of their rights.
