The institution offers financial incentives to employers who establish workplace health promotion programmes, linked to outcomes and sustainability.

Financial incentives should be used with caution. There is a risk that, when the incentive period ends, the initiatives may cease and progress in workplace health promotion will be halted.

  • The management should develop a set of guidelines, including an application form, for enterprises/organizations seeking a financial incentive. The guidelines should include a section on measuring outcomes and the criteria against which the sustainability of interventions in a workplace will be judged.
  • The management should be authorized to offer assistance to enterprises/organizations seeking to bid for seed funding or gain a premium discount.
  • The management should develop and publish a scoring system for assessing the strength of applications.
  • The management should establish a system for reporting and ensuring accountability in the use of financial resources by which every client enterprise/organization receiving financial support must report on the use of the resource and the outcome achieved.
  • The management should ensure the easy accessibility and transparency of the guidelines and scoring system.

  • The board/management should ensure that the rewards are commensurate with an enterprise/organization’s efforts in workplace health promotion.
