Mechanism
Mechanism
- Older workers who are willing and able to work should be supported and encouraged to do so.
- The institution should organize awareness campaigns for workers, employers and the public, promote age-diverse and age-friendly workplaces, and advocate against ageism, discrimination and any kind of stigmatization of older workers.
- The management should put in place advisory services, in order to develop an age-friendly workplace for older workers (part-time jobs, ergonomic workplaces, etc.).
- Early pension schemes should be actuarially neutral so as not to provide an incentive to early retirement. Due consideration should be given to having such actuarial adjustment made dynamically.
- The management could offer programmes bringing youth and older workers together, which have positive effects both in terms of skills and knowledge exchange and in fighting ageism in the workplace.
